Oil Change & Lubrication Guide for Your Quincy 210 Compressor
Regular oil changes are essential to keeping your Quincy 210 two-stage reciprocating compressor running strong. Using the right oil helps reduce wear, protect internal components, and maximize compressor life, especially on heavy-duty applications.
Recommended Oil: Quin-Cip-D
Quincy 210 compressors are designed to run on Quin-Cip-D, which is SAE 30 (ISO 100) grade oil. This oil provides excellent thermal stability and film strength to protect your pump under high loads and tough conditions.
When to Change the Oil
For most Quincy 210 setups, change the oil:
- After the first 100 hours on a new or rebuilt compressor (break-in period)
- Then every 500 hours of operation or at least once per year - whichever comes first
In high-demand or dirty environments, consider shorter intervals to stay ahead of contamination.
Step-by-Step Oil Change Guide
1. Shut Down and Depressurize
Turn off power to the compressor, unplug it, and bleed any air from the tank using the drain valve.
2. Drain Old Oil
Locate the oil drain plug on the pump crankcase. Place a drain pan underneath, remove the plug, and allow oil to fully drain. Reinstall the plug securely when done.
3. Refill with Fresh Quin-Cip-D
Remove the fill plug or breather cap. Slowly pour in Quin-Cip-D SAE 30 (ISO 100) oil. Use the sight glass or dipstick to fill to the correct level — typically to the middle of the sight glass or to the “full” mark on the stick.
4. Reinstall Fill Plug and Wipe Down
Secure the fill plug, wipe up any excess oil, and dispose of used oil properly according to local regulations.
Why Clean Oil Matters
Old or contaminated oil can lead to poor sealing, increased heat, and accelerated wear on pistons and bearings. Using the correct oil and changing it on schedule is one of the simplest ways to extend your Quincy 210’s life and maintain peak performance.
