Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 127138-002 separator compatible with my Quincy compressor?

The Quincy Separator Replacement - 127138-002 is the primary air/oil separator element used in compatible Quincy rotary screw air compressors.

Always verify 127138-002 in your parts manual before ordering. Not sure? Reach out with your compressor model and serial number and we’ll help confirm compatibility.

What does the 127138-002 separator do?

Air/oil separators are responsible for removing oil aerosols and oil carryover from compressed air before that air leaves the compressor package. This allows oil to return to the sump while helping deliver cleaner compressed air downstream.

How often should the 127138-002 separator be replaced?

Air/oil separators are commonly replaced about every 4,000 hours, depending on operating conditions and maintenance practices. They should be inspected regularly and replaced if signs of restriction, declining efficiency, or increased oil carryover are present.

Is this an OEM part?

This is an OEM-equivalent replacement separator designed to meet or exceed the fit and performance standards of the original Quincy component while offering a cost-effective alternative.

Why is it important to replace my separator regularly?

A worn or overloaded separator can allow more oil carryover into the compressed air stream and may also contribute to reduced system efficiency. Replacing the separator on schedule helps support cleaner compressed air, proper oil separation, and more reliable compressor performance.

How difficult is it to install?

Separator replacement is generally a routine maintenance task, though the process depends on the compressor’s separator housing design. Because this component is part of the pressurized air/oil system, the compressor should always be shut down, isolated, and fully depressurized before service is performed.

Do you carry other parts for Quincy?

Absolutely. We stock air filters, oil filters, separators, synthetic oils, maintenance parts and more for Quincy. If you don’t see what you need, just ask. We’re happy to help.

How do I know which oil to use in my Quincy compressor?

Stationary rotary screw compressors may have specific oil requirements that differ from reciprocating or portable units. To make sure you’re using the right lubricant for your machine, check out our full guide here: Choosing the Right Oil for your Quincy Compressor. It covers the recommended options for rotary screw compressors and helps you match your compressor with the proper oil.
